What's new
Version 0.2.4 — the GM’s table
Section titled “Version 0.2.4 — the GM’s table”The side panel. On every campaign page the GM has a panel at the right with tabs: the feed, the party, the initiative, spells and items. Its width changes, it hides, and it remembers how you left it. The spells tab has a quick search: Show sends a card to the feed, and you see who in the party has the spell. The left menu folds to icons.
Floating cards. An NPC, monster, spell or item card can open as a window: set its width, drag it or dock it to an edge with a button, and pop it out into a browser window of its own. On a phone cards still open from the bottom.
Initiative. The header with the round and the turn buttons stays in place while you scroll and fits on one line. Rows are lower, so a laptop shows about 15 combatants, and monsters of one group stand together, told apart by bands. The density — Comfortable or Compact — is chosen in the settings or with the icon above the initiative and is kept in your account.
The character sheet. Tap the portrait for its menu: change it, choose an uploaded one, adjust the frame, see it full size. Export, printing, Bring to a campaign and the other actions moved into the ⋯ menu. Hit points, AC, speed and initiative always stay at the top of the sheet, and abilities and skills now share one tab, on a phone too.
Version 0.2.3 — Materials II and NPCs
Section titled “Version 0.2.3 — Materials II and NPCs”Formatting in Materials. The editor has a toolbar: bold and italic, lists, tables, text colour, a “read aloud” block, images, and links to pages, sections, items and anything else in the campaign. A link to a section reads short, with the whole path in its hint. You can write and see the page at once, beside the text or in a window of its own that follows it. Page width, margins and spacing are in the View menu. Folders and pages take the order you give them.
Links that lead nowhere yet can be filled in while reading: point one at a page or a section, or create an NPC, an encounter, an item or a page right there.
NPCs. The chapters stand in a column at the left; an NPC is added right into a chapter, and a chapter is renamed and folded in place. A renamed chapter keeps its NPCs. An NPC has its own hit points and armour class over its stat block, and the stat block itself stays as it is. Players do not see whose stat block an NPC has until the GM reveals it. From the NPC menu you can make your own monster based on any bestiary entry and choose a portrait from the campaign’s images. An NPC card opened from a link has an Edit button.
The party and items. A character the GM made can join the party before it has a player and be given to one later. An item to grant is made on the spot, also as a copy of any item, and links in its description work.
Sign-in. Login details the browser saved work at once, and a session no longer ends when a server answer gets lost on the way.
Version 0.2.2 — a new name
Section titled “Version 0.2.2 — a new name”The product is now called Metagame.party. Campaign files are saved as .metagame (with images) and
.metagame.json (data only). Files you saved earlier as .acherontia or .acherontia.json still import.
Version 0.2.1 — homebrew
Section titled “Version 0.2.1 — homebrew”Your own spells, monsters and items. The new “Homebrew” section holds your collections: a spell book, your monsters, your items. The form reads like a grimoire page, with the card beside it — the same card SRD entries have. A spell can say what it rolls: damage or healing dice, a saving throw, an attack and what a higher slot adds.
“Create from”. On any card of the reference: take the vampire and make one of your own, with its own name and forms. The same makes a copy of your own entry or moves one into another collection.
In a campaign. In the campaign’s settings the GM connects collections — their monsters join the bestiary and the encounters — and shares spells and items with the players. A shared entry shows in the feed, and players find it on their sheets under “Campaign”, next to the SRD and their own.
Collection files. A collection saves to JSON and loads back — as a new collection or into one you have, choosing what happens to entries that match.
Version 0.2 — campaign knowledge
Section titled “Version 0.2 — campaign knowledge”The vault. The GM has a place for everything they know about the world: pages in folders, with tags, pictures and
[[…]] links to NPCs, encounters, monsters and other pages. Secrets go into GM-only blocks, and a page’s headings become
sections that fold and can be linked to. Links in the text show their kind at a glance, each with its icon and colour.
Search and chapters. The “Search” button finds pages, NPCs, monsters, encounters and characters by their text — the GM’s secrets included. NPCs, monsters and encounters can be filed under chapters, and a chapter renamed in one go.
Quick note. Right at the table: two lines, and they are in the vault, in the “Inbox” folder.
Photo framing. After picking a portrait or a cover, move and zoom the photo so lists show the face. Adjust the frame any time with “Adjust frame”.
The campaign archive with images. In the campaign’s settings, “Download with images (.metagame)” saves everything
in the campaign with its pictures, cover and portraits. The vault is in it as plain .md files any Markdown editor
opens. Import the archive as a new campaign here or on another server.
The demo campaign. In the campaign list, “Try the demo campaign” makes you a ready campaign with NPCs, an encounter, vault pages and pictures, with you as its GM. Claim its characters from a second account to see the game from a player’s side.
